BOXING
Boxing can be traced back to 688 B.C. in Greece where it was apart of Ancient Olympics. It didn't catch on in the U.S. till the late 1800's and Americans have since dominated with 25% of all Gold Medals available. Americans have changed boxing a little and have changed the level of competition tremendously. It is a sport but has very practical uses. It usually consists of 12 rounds of 3 minutes with 1 minute intermissions. A fighter wins by Knockout (your opponent not getting up in 10 seconds), TKO (knocking your opponent down 3 times in 1 round), by judgment (3 judges make a score based on efficiency, aggressiveness, etc. and give a final score), or by referee stoppage for medical reasons (ex: someone gets a cut that won't stop bleeding). Fighters box with a mouthpiece and gloves on (No head gear allowed). No hits are allowed below the waste, no kicking, and fighters may not take the fight to the ground or win by any form of submission. Most of this you should know, but it is a form of fighting.
