MIZUJITSU

Mizujitsu is an Underwater Safety & Self-Defense course taught by The Hawaii JuJitsu KoDenKai in Honolulu, Hawaii (this course has also been taught in Nevada, California, and the rest of Hawaii). It was created (still being developed though) by Steve McLaughlin (4th Degree Black Belt in DanZan JuJitsu, professional scuba diver, and PADI certified Rescue Diver) around 1985 at the suggestions of many groups including NASA (as part of a "Weightless Environment Combat Course." This is an advanced course mostly for lifeguards and scuba instructors, but anyone can take it and learn a lot. This advanced training is meant to cover the situations not covered in normal situations. It covers situations involving knives and spear guns as well.

It starts off with Surface water actions. The second course then dives into deep water situations and continues into advanced restraining techniques and options for knives and spear guns. They are based on DanZan JuJitsu because of its greatly adaptable techniques and defensive nature. The course requires some obvious skills beforeing taking like being able to swim for one.
