Japanese - Aikido (a.k.a. "Aiki Budo", "Aikikai" and "Aikinomichi") is a Japanese art that was developed in 1942 by Morihei Ueshiba. The name comes from the words "AI" (union, harmony); "KI" (vital breath, energy); "DO" (way). The art took techniques from Jiu Jitsu and made a nonviolent defensive martial art. It uses Joint Manipulation and passing to direct an opponent's attack away from himself. It also uses pressure points that can bring down an adversary without hurting him. Steven Seagal shows a more combative style of Aikido in his movies including "Above the Law", "Undersiege", "Hard to Kill", etc.

Italian - Arte Della Daga is an Italian dagger art created in the middle ages. This also included unarmed defense and is similar to the German "Dolchfechten" style. It was designed for use with thrusting daggers that are used in armored fighting. Standard attacks includes stabs to abdominal area. In dagger vs. dagger the basic idea was to parry the opponent's attack with your dagger or by hitting their forearm. Blades were usually edgeless, so fighters would grip their own blade, or the enemy's, for assitance in throwings actions against the wrists, elbows, necks, and knees.

Atemi Jutsu ( jut-su)
Japanese - Atemi Jutsu is the art of striking and defending against strikes. The methods of parrying came from using knife and short stick. The offensive techniques came from using medium and long staff. In Atemijutsu, you do not thrive to strengthen your body, but instead you target weak lines of the opponents body called "Keiraku". Where these lines cross, vulnerable areas are found, but striking along any line will have a positive result. Hitting specific targets are hard, so they aim for lines, which allow for a broader target and better chance of hitting it. They use lots of pressure points as well. Their pressure points might deafen or blind an opponent or one could induce pain, asthma, sinusitis, vomiting, nausea, unconsciousness, or death. These are known as the destructive atemi points.

Chinese - Black Crane Kung Fu is the second of the Shaolin Styles and its origins go back to Dr. Hua To in the Han dynasty. Dr. Hua To developed a series of exercises that improve health by mimicking animal motions of the bird. It provides a short-range style of boxing, which is very useful to tall boxers. It includes throws and locks, but removes intricate forms so that it can be studied by the general public and military personal. The movements were a combination of the black crane, a little tiger and some snake.

Chinese - Black Dragon Kung Fu (of wu family) (a.k.a. "Sil Lum Wu Gar Hok Lung Gung Fu") was founded by Sijo Wu Chen Pai in 714. It was brought to the U.S. by SiGung Wu Hng Su. It originated from the Kwon How Southern temple, but still has northern aspects within it. It is a close-range style that includes both internal and external methods. It consists of eight animals including Dragon, Crane, Tiger, Snake, Leopard, Monkey, Mantis, and Eagle. It includes "Shuai Chiao", "Chin Na", "Dim Mak", striking, and the drunkyard. Black Dragon Kung Fu also includes Buddhist and taist Qigong.

Philippino - Black Eagle Eskrima is a Philippino art that was created by "Carlos Navarro." In Black Eagle, you practice solo and partner drills as well as short, medium and long ranges. They use single/double stick, single/double dagger, staff, sword, flail (De Cadena), short sticks, chain, and empty hands. It uses lots of locks and emphasis on wrist, arm, and shoulder, but finger locks are the specialty. Strikes consist of punches, elbows, knees, and low line kicks. It also includes groundfighting, leg reaps, and sweeps.
