Welcome to Da Martial Arts Page. In order to navigate through the site, you click on a Country on the right and then a list with all Styles/Systems from that country will appear and then click on that style. Some styles will appear under multiple names like Escrima is also referred to as Kali and Arnis, not to mention different spellings for all of them.
Originally, I was trying to look up some information on a few martial arts I've heard about. While doing that, I kept finding information for other arts, the next thing you know, it was hard to keep track of. I found it extremely hard to decipher some of the information about the arts as so many are being described by someone selling a service. So I started writing small bits about arts for my information. After I had about 20 arts, I said, I'll just make a webpage, put it in my free ISP host site and I can view it anywhere. That was around April of 2001. I then expanded and 100's of arts and years later, you have this page before you.
As for me, I do on and off training depending on how busy my life is at the time and my friends. I don't go to schools. I've had 1v1 training with some instructors that I know, other than that, my brother taught me a lot when I was a kid, so most of it comes naturally. So, I buy videos, watch them, and train off of them. I have mats, sticks, pads, bags, training knifes, etc. I've trained a lot in Muay Thai kick boxing, Hapkido, Brazillian Jiu-jitsu, Tibetan Snake Kung Fu and Escrima (or anything Pilipino). I've dabbled a bit in BaGua, Systema, Jeet Kune Do, Shingi Tai Jiu Jitsu and lots of other things. I've watched a ton of instructional videos on many arts and at this time need to update many of the arts here with what I've actually seen and not just read about. I'm also big into the Prize fighting like UFC, Vale Tudo, KOTC, K1, and my favorite PRIDE FC.
For ease of searching and since they seem relatively unimportant, I've removed single ticks and hyphens. The single ticks are replaced with nothing. No spaces in their place, just gone. So "k'im" becomes "kim". I've also replaced hyphens with spaces. So k-im becomes k im.
Feel free to CONTRADICT, PROVIDE MISSING OR KEY INFORMATION, ask questions, or discuss the stuff I have on or not on the site. Any information I have up here that is incorrect, I want to be changed. The more I can add the better it will be for everyone. I have some arts up here where I know very little about and obviously had a tough time finding information about, so please give me more information. Also, feel free to send any pictures (free of copyright protection) that you would like to me as well. If there are any questions email me at dmap@DaMartialArtsPage.com
