Welcome to "Da Martial Arts Page." In order to navigate through the site, you click on a Country on the right, then a list with all Styles/Systems from that country will appear, then click on that style. Some styles will be under multiple names. This was designed in IE and may or may not work with other browsers. For this you may choose the alternate basic navigation, which will be placed up soon (hopefully) (give feedback if it works in Netscape or and other browsers you use wether its Windows, linux, freeBSD, or whatever). I have a terms section for each country and I have one giant list that combines all the terms for all countries. I also have a section to keep track of most of my updates since February of 2000.

I originally spent around 3 months researching as much as I can about all the different Martial Arts out there and many more formatting the content. I have been constantly working on it, adding styles, terms, updating facts about styles I already have placed up there. I have steadily been working on this during my lunch breaks since around April of 2001. I love martial arts and I also love to practice and watch them. Currently I'm training regularly in Tibetan Snake Kung fu, Bagua, Muay Thai kickboxing, and Escrima (taught by Arsenio Advincula). I also have a background in Combat Hapkido, Freestyle Wrestling (meaning no formal training, but picking up techniques here or there), Freestyle Jiu Jitsu (same as prior, but mostly Brazillian), a little bit in Shingi Tai Jiu Jitsu and pieces of other arts here and there. I always watching Martial art films and various MMA's such as U.F.C., Pride FC, Vale Tudo and K.O.T.C.

Currently, it's hard to keep constant updates with, so much work to do at my job. It's taking up so much of my time. I'm trying though.

I am trying to get ird of all single ticks (ex: ') and all hyphens (ex: -). This is because they are interchanged well and just confuse people while searching for information. All Single ticks can be replaced with NOTHING (ex: "K'im" becomes "KIM") and all hyphens can be replaced with a space (ex: "K-im" becomes "K im"). This is something new that I am doing, so there are left overs that I am trying to change. I will be constantly changing things, adding, and modifying arts. One day I will add pictures, information about weapons (description and pictures), and much more. If there is anything in particular you want to see, let me know. This page contains style descriptions and you must remember that they may or may not be absolute fact. Now I try to give an objective view about the art, but I add my own opinions in their and give advice from my personal experience and it is usually noted as so. I have gotten a lot (I also have my own knowledge, friends, books, TV and more) of my information off of the Web and have already changed things from what people have said about the art who have practiced the art for many of years. Some of this could have been wrong information or misinterpreted. I will and have not put anything on the site that I have not believed to be true. Please also understand that martial arts goes back along time and accurate records do not exist, so some information is disputable one way or the other and I marked anything that I knew to be disputable. Martial arts can also be confusing because some countries use the same term as others, but mean something completely different. There are also a lot of general terms misused in specific ways such as "I know Kung Fu." Kung Fu is a general term that means arts that come from China and therefore refers to over 1000 arts and there is no way that any one person knows that many different styles.

Feel free to CONTRADICT, PROVIDE MISSING OR KEY INFORMATION, ask questions, or discuss the stuff I have on or not on the site. Any information I have up here that is incorrect, I want to be changed. The more I can add the better it will be for everyone. I have some arts up here where I know very little about and obviously had a tough time finding information about, so please give me more information. Also, feel free to send any pictures (free of copyright protection) that you would like to me as well. If there are any questions email me at DaMartialArts@yahoo.com
